Cybercriminals often attack Facebook or Instagram accounts, but careless users could also lose their WhatsApp account.
To avoid such a scenario, you just need to follow a few simple steps.
First, never share the WhatsApp recovery code you receive on your mobile as an SMS with anyone. It is exclusively for you and in someone else’s hands it will allow them to transfer your WhatsApp account to the attacker’s phone. You will lose access to your account.
Second, go to WhatsApp settings and enable two-factor authentication (2FA). You must enter a six-digit number. Then, even if the bad guys somehow get hold of your recovery code, they still won’t be able to access your account without those extra numbers. Be sure not to forget that additional code.
