Phishing attacks are a persistent threat in today’s digital landscape, with cybercriminals employing various tactics to gain access to your accounts. One of the most prevalent forms of phishing is where criminals impersonate trusted entities such as Facebook or Instagram to trick users into divulging their login credentials.

These attacks typically involve the creation of a fake webpage that closely resembles the legitimate login page of the targeted service. Once a user inputs their username and password on this fake page, the attacker gains access to their account, potentially compromising sensitive personal information.

To protect against phishing attacks, it’s important to exercise caution when entering login credentials online. Always verify the authenticity of the webpage you are accessing by carefully inspecting the URL. Be wary of webpages with URLs that differ by just one letter from the legitimate URL of the service you are attempting to access, as these may be phishing sites.

To further fortify your account security, enable two-factor authentication (2FA) whenever possible. This adds an additional layer of protection by requiring a secondary code, typically sent to your phone, in addition to your password to log in. However, it’s important to keep generated 2FA codes confidential and never share them with anyone, as doing so could compromise your account security.
